This cracks me up

I missed a night out at the gardens tonight...working on taxes. I wish i could have seen these guys, they are hands down, two of my favorite people here on the island.
That's my penis, by the way. I brought it back from Hong Kong on a recent trip and I gave it to E (on left) and it was considered lost within a few hours. S (on right) was raking the yard a few days later and uncovered it. He didn't know that it was E's. He immediately saw how awesome it was and picked the little guy up and clean it. Why he's in pink lingerie is another story.

I'm working at my laptop right now, listening to the Pixies, and my nephew is shouting at me to "change this crap". I'm so disappointed. Disappointed enough to attempt to blog this event. All he wants to listen to is the Black Eyed Peas (avec Fergie). What is the youth of today coming to? I can accept that he won't listen to even 10 seconds of Tom Waits, but he really needs to get his shit together and start loving Debaser.

"It would be funny if it wasn't so sad"
So my sister told me this story & I couldn't really understand it until I read the article. Apparently a 29 year dude was shaving himself and putting on makeup to make him look like a 12 year old boy. His disguise fooled a 61 year old guy and his friend who was like 43 and the two older men used the "12 year old" as their boy toy.
The older guy (the 61 year old) then tried to enroll the 29 year old (disguised as a 12 year old) dude in school. Of course the school realized that he wasn't 12 and alerted the police. Turns out they're all messed up. The older perverts became "very upset when the detectives told them they had been having a sexual relationship with a 29-year-old man and not a pre-teen boy,"
It's messed up, right?
"This is the weirdest case I've seen in 18 years," sheriff's spokeswoman Susan Quayle said. "If it wasn't so sad it would be funny."

Cool new things in Hong Kong
Ok, so some of these things might not be NEW new, but they were new to me when I went to Hong Kong. It has been about 10 years since I've been back and a lot has changed, but at the same time, its the same old Hong Kong. Here are some things that are new:
Protective doors for the MTR platform-
They have doors now on the MTR platform so you can't fall in the tracks or kill yourself. They have also stopped saying "Please mind the platform gap" and have now changed it to "please mind the doors" since there are now two sets of doors to mind. There is a sticker on the ground though that still says "Please mind the platform gap".
They have retrofitted the buses so passengers can yell at the driver if he drives too fast. There is now a speedometer in the front of the bus so you can monitor the driver's speed.
They have infrared sensors for crosswalk buttons. You don't have to press a button now, but you just wave your hand over the sensor (not available at all crosswalks).
They demolished the original Star Ferry piers and have made new ones. The ships are the same though and it now costs HK$1.70 to ride on the bottom of the boat.
They have implemented a new system to pay for transportation called the Octopus. This is very cool. You buy an octopus card and you can use it to pay for buses, trams, MTR rides, and even regular stuff like food. But that's not what's cool about the Octopus. The cool thing is, is that you don't even have to remove the octopus from your bag or wallet. You can just leave it in your purse and wave it over the octopus reader that is placed everywhere. So when you ride the MTR, instead of using the little cards and feeding it through the machine, you just place your bag over a reader and walk through. And when you ride a bus, you just wave your bag over the reader that's by the bus door and walk in. You don't have to open your purse or wallet and worry about losing your card.
The police have new uniforms. Sorry no pictures of that.
They have hand sanitizers everywhere now. Like in elevators and in coffee shops. Speaking of coffee shops, Starbucks is now in Hong Kong. They're even in the MTR.
There's a new Peak building (at the Peak). It's huge and filled with even more shopping. Here's Anson in front of the new Peak Building. The old Galleria is still there, along with the spouting fountain (closed during winter).

Popo & Goong Goong's 60th Wedding Anniversary
This year was Anson's grandparents' 60th wedding anniversary. We got to go to the party in Hong Kong. It was really wonderful seeing all of Anson's family, especially his grandparents and his aunties and uncles. We had a wonderful time at the party and everyone looked so beautiful & healthy! It isn't every day you get to go to someone's 60th wedding anniversary. It truly was a special event.

Anson hates peacocks
One of the best things about the Hilo Zoo is that they let the peacocks roam free. We were lucky to find a male trying to show off to some females. But he wouldn't face me for a picture. I had to run circles around him, hoping that he would pause & I could get a good picture. Ans was not at all interested. Look at his facial expression in the background:

Franu phobia #10
This post is dedicated to one of my top 10 phobias- Falling out of an amusement park ride. I have a huge fear of roller coaster rides mostly because I always feel like I'm about to fall out. I know that's one of the points of rides, you feel like you're going to fall but honestly I feel that I'm always falling more than anyone else. I found this clip of a fat kid slipping out of his harness and then his face gets stuck in it...it could happen to me, I know it.

day 3 hilo holiday- our anniversary!
December 28th, Hilo Hawaii
Today is our 3rd anniversary & we managed to get a little car from Enterprise! We picked up the rental at 8am and drove straight to Champagne pond. If you ever get a chance, I strongly recommend heading out to the Puna district on the Big Island and making your way over to Champagne Pond. The drive out to Puna is beautiful.
Champagne pond is a geothermally heated lagoon filled with fish and turtles. The trick is getting there. You'll need a 4 x 4 vehicle and head towards the pond from the lighthouse in Puna or you can choose to walk the hike which is beautiful, but its a long hike over lava boulders. The other option is to park at the gated community and pretend you're staying in the area. The community is built all around the pond and some people have their own private pool. Its still a couple blocks to walk from the gate, and if you get lost you can't count of the people staying there to help or give directions. The photo looks a little dark but under the water it looks like this:
We also made our way to the Kapoho Tidepools which are close by. The tidepools are amazing and you can swim in most of them. They are filled with sea life! Here's a picture Anson took of a slate pencil urchin:
The wildlife varies from pool to pool. Sometimes you'll find yourself in a sea cucumber pool or a sea urchin pool. I don't know how they segregate themselves. Its probably coincidental. Here's what the tidepools look like:
Its neat because there's so many rocks to climb on and explore.
Next we hit the volcano and drove down the Chain of Craters road to get to the lava. Every trip to the Big Island we vow to make our way to the lava. But we always get to the hike too late and after about 1 and a half hours of hiking in the dark, volcano madness sets in and we decide to turn back. We did get farther this time and made it out to the second ledge and viewing area.

Hilo Holiday day 2
December 27th, Hilo Hawaii
Today was Wednesday, which in Hilo to my mom only means one thing: Farmers Market. The Hilo Farmer's Market is a combo of swap meet & produce. You can get funky sarongs and fresh strawberry papaya here and it all seems pretty cheap. We still haven't been able to get a car rental which is a bummer. My folks' car isn't reliable enough to take us out to see turtles, champagne pond, or the volcano...

Day 1 of Hilo Vacation 2006
We made it to the Big Island for Christmas to visit my mom & dad & baxter. We love the Big Island because there is so much to do. The beaches here feel cleaner (and sometimes colder) than on Oahu but it is always worth it. This trip we hope to 1) make it to the Volcano and this time walk all the way to view the lave 2)spend some time at Champagne pond 3)swim with some sea turtles 4) eat at Ken's House of pancakes.

Christmas 2006
Christmas time in Hawaii is beautiful. This Christmas was extra special because Anson's sister came down with her new baby. We had breakfast at the house before opening up some presents.We spent the rest of the day getting ready for our family trip to the Big Island to see my mom & dad (and baxter). The cats came with us again.
The only thing under my seat was Turkey, who by the way, was a good little fuzzy traveler with no complaints. Rosie on the other hand crapped in her carrier and had in short, a very horrible christmas day.Here is Turkey showing me love once we got to Hilo:

It’s not porn, its English class
Another reason Japanese culture intrigues me. Here's a sample of the aerobics series from Japan (aired 1992) that teaches people aerobics & english. If you can fast forward the clip, or stand to watch it, it gets crazy about a minute into the excersize and then again at 1:50min. It makes you realize that there's enough Japanese people visiting English speaking countries that phrases like "Spare me my life" is an important phrase to learn.

Ans with Achillesand we made it to the North Shore today to see the turtles. There were a lot swimming but none were resting on the beach like the last time. Still it was a very beautiful Christmas Eve.
